body, soul, spirit in worshipThe Reverend Gena Davis envisioned the integration of yoga and Christian worship as a natural emergence out of her spiritual practice that included meditation, contemplative practices, yoga, breath work, and Christian ritual and worship. As priest and leader at the time for Grace Episcopal Church, Houston, Davis acknowledged the gift of embracing the body as part of the whole-self worship experience. YogaMass® was borne in 2015 out of Davis' love for both yoga and Christian spirituality, honoring the gift of embodied spirituality.
The mission of the Institute for Spirituality and Health (ISH) is to increase awareness of the role that spirituality plays in health and healing, in coping with chronic illness, stress, and in maintaining optimal health. The health benefits of yoga and meditation are increasingly acknowledged by health practitioners and researchers, a truth experienced and known in yoga communities. The collaboration between Gena Davis, ISH and Grace was borne out of a mutual desire to manifest Christ consciousness in the world through a marriage of sacred meal and mat, east and west, movement and stillness, body and breath. The YogaMass® team connected in like minds to share the spirituality of a personal integration of mind, body, and spirit with Christ in community. Today, YogaMass® is held in various locations to share the message of embodying Christ Consciousness. YogaMass, Inc. Board Members, established December 2017
